Since the ultra-high vacuum is usually obtained by baking and degassing, and ordinary rubber ring sealing flanges cannot withstand high temperature, the earliest ultra-high vacuum equipment is generally connected by welding between different components In 2000, Varian Technologies (now Agilent Technologies) invented a detachable metal static seal flange that can withstand high-temperature baking, and named it ConFlat flange because of its good sealing and high-temperature baking properties. ConFlat flanges are widely used and are becoming the industry standard for ultra-high vacuum and extremely high vacuum flanges
