General metal targets show high reflectance in the visible range (380-780nm), presenting silver white, but some non-ferrous metals, such as gold and copper, have selective absorption in a specific wavelength range so that special colors appear. Gold has its characteristic golden color due to selective absorption by electron transition under light at wavelengths near 470nm. In the actual coating, I often use the target and gas to form metal compounds to debug a variety of colors, a variety of metal compounds for the spectral reflectance curve forms are not the same, as shown below are gold, silver, aluminum, iron, and TiN reflectance curve, from the figure, TiN reflectance curve, and gold are more similar, so their color and relatively similar. Black series such as TiC and CrC have low reflectivity, and the film absorbs most wavelengths of visible light, so we look black.
