Ion plating is a PVD coating process in which a gas containing atoms of the coating material is introduced into a vacuum chamber. The gas is ionized, and then the ions are accelerated and directed to the substrate, where they deposit to form a coating. This process enables a more uniform coating than other PVD processes, making it suitable for applications that require a high degree of uniformity.
