What is PVD coating?
PVD coating is a process that uses the physical vapor deposition (PVD) process to deposit a thin layer of material on the surface of the substrate. The material is evaporated and then deposited onto the substrate in a vacuum chamber to form a thin, uniform coating. The coating material to be evaporated is called the "target" or "source material". Source materials can include metals, alloys, ceramics, composites, and any material in the periodic table, depending on the end product.
Due to its high hardness, wear resistance, and low friction properties, PVD coatings are well suited for a variety of applications, such as the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries. In addition, PVD coatings are often used to manufacture tools and equipment to improve their durability and performance. Some materials that can be coated with PVD include metals, ceramics, and polymers.
