Purpose of salt spray testing

This requires a convenient way to evaluate the corrosion resistance of the product.
Salt spray testing is an accelerated corrosion resistance evaluation method for artificial atmospheres. It atomizes a certain concentration of brine and then sprays it in a closed thermostatic box to reflect the corrosion resistance of the tested sample by observing the changes of the tested sample placed in the box for a period of time. It is an accelerated test method, that is, it takes a short time, not years, only days, or even hours.
Although the salt spray test is an effective test method. However, due to many factors affecting corrosion, a single salt spray resistance can not be used as a representative of the resistance to other media, so the salt spray test results can not be used as a direct guide for the corrosion resistance of the tested material in all environments. At the same time, the performance of the material in the test can not be used as a direct guide to corrosion resistance in use. Nevertheless, the salt spray test method can still be used as a method of testing the material under test.
