There are 6 main sources of gas volume in the vacuum system:

● The initial gas contained in the system/chamber;

● The amount of gas produced during the pumping process;

● Embedding gas (will further increase the amount of gas);

● Backflow/migration (can be reduced by using cold traps, anti-suction valves, etc.);

● Degassing (this is the main factor causing the amount of gas, but also the most difficult problem to solve);

● Leakage.

Finally, on the issue of venting, it is necessary to clarify the distinction between two processes: absorption and adsorption. Absorption is a physical or chemical process by which one substance enters the interior of another, usually in different phases (in this case, gas molecules enter the interior of the solid material in the wall of the cavity). Adsorption, on the other hand, is the adhesion/proximity of molecules in the gas phase to the surface of another substance (in this case, the cavity wall). Adsorbed molecules simply need to be "desorbed," while absorbed molecules first need to be "diffused to the surface" before being desorbed.
