Where do the pollutants come from?
Surfaces exposed to air are most susceptible to pollution from a variety of sources, and the initial contamination is usually part of the surface itself. Adsorption, chemical reactions, leaching and drying processes, mechanical treatment, and diffusion and segregation processes all contribute to increased surface contamination of the various components.
