Diamond-like (DLC) coatings with excellent hardness and low coefficient of friction surpass many traditional ceramic coatings (TiN, CrN, ZrN, and AlTiN) in applications such as metalworking and component protection in the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries. In modern diesel engines, for example, today's high-pressure diesel injection systems, tappets, and piston pins are coated almost exclusively with DLCS.
