General conventional nitriding is hardening nitriding, with nitriding temperature 520℃~560℃. The surface hardness increases. Figure 6 shows the hardness gradient curve of the nitriding layer after ion nitriding of several structures of steel. Steel containing Cr, Ti, Mo, Al can form compounds of these elements, high hardness after nitriding, and hardness gradient decreases slowly. After hardening nitriding, a bright white layer of nitride is formed in the nitriding layer.
