With the continuous development of the processing manufacturing industry and the increasing number of difficult-to-process materials, a single binary coating is difficult to meet the new requirements of modern industrial development. By adding other elements (such as Al, Zr, V, Si, Y, etc.) to the binary nitride coating, a new multi-component coating system can be formed and the overall properties of the coating can be significantly improved. A large number of studies have shown that the introduction of Al elements based on TiN and CrN coatings to form ternary system TiAlN and CrAlN coatings can further improve the hardness, wear resistance, and high-temperature oxidation resistance of the coatings. Related studies also found that the antioxidant properties of CrAlN coating were significantly better than TiAlN coating. To utilize the advantages of TiAlN coating and CrAlN coating at the same time, and further improve the comprehensive performance of metal nitride coating, (Cr,Ti,Al) N quaternary coating came into being. (Cr,Ti,Al) N coating has the advantages of high hardness, strong film-based binding force, good wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation resistance, and has attracted much attention from relevant researchers since its advent.
