Transition metal nitride coating has been widely used in cutting tools, precision molds and mechanical parts due to its advantages of high hardness, strong adhesion, good corrosion resistance, wear resistance and high-temperature oxidation resistance. TiN and CrN coatings are the first binary nitride hard coatings studied and widely applied. Among them, TiN coating has the characteristics of high hardness, high wear resistance, high corrosion resistance, low friction factor and good chemical stability, and its microhardness is higher than that of CrN coating . However, TiN coating has poor oxidation resistance at high temperatures. When the temperature is higher than 550 ℃, the coating surface easily oxidize to form a brittle and loose structure TiO2, resulting in the coating cracking and easy peeling, so it is not suitable for high-speed cutting . CrN coating has the characteristics of high toughness, good wear resistance, high film-base bond strength, high temperature oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, low internal stress, and better toughness, high temperature oxidation resistance and lower friction factor than TiN coating . However, when the temperature exceeds 600 ℃, the CrN coating will also begin to oxidize and lose its protective effect on the matrix .
