ConFlat flange and gasket material
Typical ConFlat flange materials include austenitic stainless steel 304L, 316L, 316LN and surface hardened aluminum alloy, etc. Sealing gaskets can be made of a variety of materials, the material of the gasket determines the highest temperature resistance of the joint, and to a certain extent determines the ultimate pressure that can be achieved:

Oxygen-free copper gaskets can be used in ultra-high vacuums below 1E-13mbar and withstand temperature cycles between -196° C and 450°C. However, when baked at high temperatures, the portion of the gasket exposed to air will oxidize to form an oxide film, which may peel off into the chamber during flange removal. Silver-plated alloy gaskets are recommended for systems requiring frequent, long-term high-temperature baking.

Silver-plated gaskets can achieve the same vacuum degree as oxygen-free copper gaskets, withstand the same temperature, but not easily oxidized or flanged during baking, and lower air release rate under vacuum.

Non-metallic gaskets such as fluoro rubber (FKM/Viton) and polytetrafluoron (PTFE/Teflon) cannot withstand baking at particularly high temperature due to the physical properties of the gasket material itself, and because non-metallic materials have higher air release rate and permeability, Therefore, it is difficult to obtain very high vacuum degree when using non-metallic gaskets.
